How it is calculated
Etsy fees = listing $0.20 + 6.5% × (item + shipping + gift wrap) + processing rate × (item + shipping + gift wrap + sales tax) + fixed processing fee + Offsite Ads % × (item + shipping + gift wrap), if attributed. The payout is item + shipping + gift wrap minus those fees; the sales tax Etsy collects is remitted by Etsy and never reaches you, but the processing fee is still charged on it.
Net profit subtracts your materials, postage and labor from the payout. The break-even price solves for the item price at which net profit is zero, keeping shipping charged and all other inputs fixed. The 30% figure is the item price that leaves a 30% margin on the item price.
Not included: Etsy Ads (on-site, budget you set), Etsy Plus $10/month, currency conversion (2.5% when your listing currency differs from your payment account currency), the regulatory operating fee in some non-US countries, and refunds. Processing rates outside the US and South Korea vary; use "Other" with the rate shown in your Etsy Payments settings.

- Sellers outside the US pay different processing rates (for example 6.5% + $0.30 in South Korea); use the custom rate fields.

Frequently asked questions
Is the transaction fee charged on shipping?
Yes. Since 2022 the 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping and gift-wrap charges you set. Payment processing is charged on the whole order total including sales tax that Etsy collects.
When does the listing fee apply?
$0.20 when you create or renew a listing, every four months, and automatically each time a listing with more than one in stock sells and renews. The calculator counts one $0.20 fee per sale.
How do Offsite Ads fees work?
Etsy advertises listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Bing. If a shopper clicks one of those ads and buys within 30 days, the order is charged 15% (or 12% if your shop made $10,000+ in the previous 365 days — then participation is mandatory). The fee is capped at $100 per order. Shops under the threshold can opt out.
Does this include Etsy Plus, Etsy Ads or the regulatory operating fee?
Etsy Plus ($10/month) and on-site Etsy Ads are optional and depend on your budget, so they are not included per order — add them as a monthly overhead yourself. The regulatory operating fee applies to sellers in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Türkiye and some other countries, not to US sellers.
