How it is calculated
Net profit = selling price − referral fee − FBA fulfillment fee (+3.5% surcharge) − monthly storage × months − product cost − inbound shipping − PPC − plan fee per unit. The referral fee is a percentage of the selling price (Amazon applies it to price + shipping charged, which for FBA is usually zero), with a $0.30 minimum. Categories such as clothing use tiers on the portion of the price above a threshold; a few (baby, beauty, grocery) switch rate for the whole price at $10 or $15.
The FBA fee comes from Amazon's 2026 US rate card: the size tier, the shipping weight (rounded up to the next band) and the price band. Items under $10 get the lower Low-Price FBA rate; items over $50 pay about $0.26 more than the $10–50 band. Large standard items above 3 lb add $0.08 per 4 oz; bulky and extra-large tiers add a per-pound charge above the first pound. Monthly storage is cubic feet × the seasonal rate; if you enter dimensions the cubic feet and dimensional weight (L × W × H ÷ 139) are computed for you.
Not included: low-inventory-level fee, inbound placement service fee, removal and disposal fees, returns processing fees for high-return products, aged-inventory surcharges, sales tax, and refunds. They depend on your inventory behaviour rather than on a single unit, so add an allowance to the product cost if they apply to you.
Key points
- Referral fee: usually 15% of the selling price (8% for electronics, 5–17% tiered for clothing), minimum $0.30 per unit. Unchanged since January 2024 and frozen through 2026.
- FBA fulfillment fee: set by size tier, shipping weight and the price band (under $10 / $10–50 / over $50). Small standard items start at $3.32 in the $10–50 band; large standard items over 3 lb add $0.08 per 4 oz.
- A 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applies to fulfillment fees since April 17, 2026. Peak-season rates (October 15 – January 14) are $0.19–0.54 higher per unit for standard-size items.
- Monthly storage: $0.78 per cubic foot January–September and $2.40 October–December for standard size (oversize $0.56 / $1.40).
- Net profit = price − referral fee − FBA fee − storage − product cost − inbound shipping − PPC − plan fee. Aim for a margin above 20% before ads; many products land at 10–15% after PPC.
Worked example
Large standard item, 1.2 lb shipping weight, Home & Kitchen (15%), $10–50 band, product cost $8, inbound $1.20, no PPC, professional plan spread over 300 units/month.

Frequently asked questions
Which fees does this calculator include?
Referral fee (by category, with price tiers where Amazon uses them), FBA fulfillment fee (2026 US non-peak tables for standard, bulky and extra-large tiers, plus the apparel table and the peak-season table), the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge, monthly storage, the media closing fee, and the selling plan fee. You add your own product cost, inbound shipping and PPC spend.
How is the size tier decided?
Amazon uses the packaged dimensions and weight. Small standard: up to 16 oz and 15 × 12 × 0.75 in. Large standard: up to 20 lb and 18 × 14 × 8 in. Large bulky: up to 50 lb and 59 × 33 × 33 in. Anything heavier or larger is extra-large. Pick the tier that matches your packaged product; the calculator does not measure it for you.
What is shipping weight?
For small standard items it is the packaged unit weight. For larger tiers Amazon uses the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight (length × width × height in inches ÷ 139, in lb). Enter dimensions and the calculator computes dimensional weight and cubic feet for storage.
Are the numbers official?
Referral rates come from Amazon's public pricing page and fee schedule; FBA fulfillment and storage rates were checked against Amazon Seller Central's public help pages on 2026-09-20. Rates change — Amazon typically announces updates in December for mid-January. The pages are re-checked automatically every day and the 'rates as of' date below is updated when we change anything.
Does it work for Amazon UK, Canada or Germany?
Not yet. This version covers Amazon.com (US) in USD. Other marketplaces have different referral rates, FBA tables and VAT rules.
Is my data stored?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser; nothing is sent to a server. Inputs are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back.
